If you, or a family member, received a kitten as a Christmas present there are many things you need to think about.
It is essential that you take the time to really consider whether or not you should neuter your cat. Because there are so many strays and so few homes for them, it is wise to really take the time to make sure that if you are going to keep your pet natural that you should keep him from reproducing.
Many of the feral cats out there are those that pet owners released simply because they could no longer care for them. A colony of them can easily spread diseases to pet cats and even dogs. Even when they are healthy they are often infested with fleas. Females that are in heat the colony of cats can cause quite a disturbance with all the crying and even fighting. Cats that are hungry can get into trash cans, ruin furniture on your patio and dig in soil in your flower beds.
Cats in heat often cause a lot of trouble and noise. Neutering or spraying cats can help to prevent many things including this. Female house cat in heat can pitifully mew at the door and then cats throughout the neighborhood will soon chime in. Cats that are not neutered have a tendency to ram far from home and they are likely to spray everything in their path.
These cats are also likely to get certain types of cancers as well. The cancers of the reproductive organs are very rare in cats that have been fixed. Unaltered cats can also develop several contagious reproductive diseases.
But, if you do have your cat altered, there are some down notes to take note of. For example, cats that are altered can compete in the show ring but even if he wins the championship he can not reproduce for you.
The humane society will alter kittens as young as eight weeks of age. Most vets will agree that it is healthier to do this to kittens at five to six months, though. If they are feral kittens how are trapped to be altered and then released back they can be done earlier.
Female kittens have a harder time with neutering than males do. Males can handle it at a younger age, then and you can wait until they are six months old to neuter your females.
Most cats have no problems with neutering but sometimes they can develop an infection for the incision. It is important to check the cat daily to insure that it is doing well with it. If the cat licks and chews at the stitches you’ll need to have the vet put on a surgery collar to keep the cat from reaching them. Female cats need to be confined indoors for up to five days after having the surgery.
Neutering your cat can keep the pet population under control. It will not necessary do anything to the cat’s temperament and it will not be a cruel event to the animal. It can be the responsible thing to do.

While in 1990th we saw very fierce fighting between Microsoft Windows and Apple Computer PowerMac for the workstations market, when two systems were practically not compatible and didn’t have plans to understand each other, plus all the blends of Unix/Linux were trying to step in and take workstation market over, the next decade in our opinion will be the decade of coexistence, integration, cross-platform heterogeneous data distribution and querying. Good example would be this - imagine you are freight forwarder and your company has Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains implemented as accounting and partly distribution application and on the other hand you have Oracle based cargo delivery / tracking system. You do not have to phase out one or the other - you make them coexist: if you need Great Plains user to lookup shipment status - you use heterogeneous query from MS SQL Server (Great Plains) to Oracle via linked server and have instant result set on the screen. Similar heterogeneous query you can have from Oracle side to MS SQL Server. Let’s look at the trends:
• XML - is platform independent way to communicate: transfer inbound/outbound streams of data. This is the sign of future coexistence and it is very simple in reading and understanding by human being
• IT Budget. Evolution versus Revolution: the old days of restructuring your company business operation around new computer system are probably over. Nowadays IT budget is pretty limited and corporate management considers IT as regular (not elite) internal services department. So - you, as IT manager or director has limited resources to revolutionize the company, so you follow the step-by-step evolution
• The sunset of proprietary languages. Good example is Great Plains Dexterity - this is the core of recent Microsoft Great Plains, former Great Plains Dynamics. Dexterity had the history of evolution, and now it is using SQL Stored procs to do the majority of database querying and updating, Microsoft plans to phase it slowly out and replace with the future .Net language of choice (not sure which one will win: C# or VB.Net - but this is not important at this moment). In the close future SQL with XML inbound/outbound will be the language of integrations
• The end of heavy custom programming. At least in the US - majority of the project will be outsourced. In the USA we will be mostly dealing with project management and specifications writing, plus physical hardware support. Even if you are dealing with, say Microsoft Business Solutions partner in San Francisco - partner itself will be using either overseas facility or simply contractors over there. When the majority of us will become project managers, thinking about business logic, not the way of realizing it in the code - we will stop heating the opposite platform -no more Microsoft VB.Net programmer hatred toward Java/EJB/J2EE programmer
We are already doing cross platform integrations from Microsoft Business Solutions products: Microsoft CRM, Great Plains to Oracle, DB2, Lotus and other databases, plus Microsoft CRM email messaging through Lotus Domino to begin realize the strategy
Andrew Karasev is Chief Technology Officer in Alba Spectrum Technologies - USA nationwide Great Plains, Microsoft CRM customization company, serving clients in Chicago, California, Texas, Florida, New York, Georgia, Arizona, Minnesota, UK, Australia and having locations in multiple states and internationally ( http://www.albaspectrum.com ), he is CMA, Great Plains Certified Master, Dexterity, SQL, C#.Net, Crystal Reports and Microsoft CRM SDK developer.

The Mystical Experience
“The mysteries of life become lucid … and often, nay usually, the solution is more or less unutterable in words.” — William James, “The Varieties of Religious Experience”
I don’t remember who came to my door. I don’t remember what he said. I do remember he was angry.
I had just finished reading a book called “Summerhill” by an English schoolmaster, A.S. Neill. Its theme was ‘freedom, not license’. Each student in Neill’s school was free to do what he wanted as long as the conduct didn’t hurt someone else. The community Neill had created was a free, creative, loving, respectful, responsible interaction of unique human beings.
Recently, I’d been involved in disciplinary battles with one of my preschool sons. The battles resulted in increasingly destructive behavior in him and increased frustration in me. I decided to give Neill’s methods a try, with my own children and with other people in my life.
The man at the door wasn’t hurting me. I decided to allow him to vent his anger. I didn’t do it because it was something I ought to do. I did it because I chose to do it. I experienced acceptance of the anger and no desire to retaliate. Suddenly, the anger stopped.
Nothing changed. My house, the door, the living room, the man, were all still there, just as they had been five minutes before.
Yet everything changed. Suddenly, I understood the meaning of words I’d been taught as a child: “But I say unto you, that ye resist not evil; but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Matthew 6:39.
My five-year-old son Bill began wetting the bed after his youngest brother was born. At first, I ignored the bedwetting. Perhaps it would disappear. When it didn’t, I explained to Bill why he was too big a boy to wet the bed. The wetting continued. I reasoned with him, threatened him, screamed at him, and spanked him. The wetting continued. I felt angry and frustrated.
Neill frequently dealt with problem behavior by rewarding his students. While rewards for bad behavior didn’t make sense, nothing else had worked. Neill’s ideas worked with the man at the door. I decided to try them with the bedwetting problem.
The next time Bill wet the bed, I gave him a penny. He stared at me in confusion. The following morning, his bed was dry. He never wet it again. My anger and frustration disappeared.
What a powerful tool! I began using Neill’s ideas with neighboring children.
One day, two children were calling each other names in the back yard and threatening to fight. Instead of trying to stop them, I took each aside and asked him if he wanted to fight.
“I don’t want to fight,” each responded, “but he’s making me do it. He’s calling me names.”
“Do you want to fight?” I reiterated. “If so, go ahead and do it.”
The boys mumbled to themselves and looked at the ground. Two minutes later, they were happily playing together.
What I was doing contradicted everything society had taught me, but it brought the peace and harmony I desired. Society had taught me to punish people for ‘bad behavior’, but I didn’t punish them. Society had taught me to resist ‘evil’, but I no longer resisted. Society had taught me to fight for peace, but I no longer fought.
Instead, I simply detached from the anger and turmoil around me and allowed it to happen without responding to it. The anger and turmoil dissipated, and my life and relationships worked. By allowing myself to remain peaceful and harmonious, everything around me became peaceful and harmonious.
I had always understood Matthew 6:39 as an unattainable moral commandment, requiring subservience of my own needs to the needs of others. It wasn’t that at all. It was extremely effective action I could take all by myself, that benefited both me and others. There was no self-denial in that action. There was only self-affirmation and life affirmation. I had never before felt so free, so strong, so powerful, so integrated, so fully in control.
Nothing outside me changed. The only thing that changed was my own perceptions, thoughts, actions, and emotions.
What I experienced has been called a “mystical experience”.
As a child, I had been taught to doubt, question, and trust my own judgment. My upbringing didn’t include education about mystical experiences, but I knew that many religions included words about these experiences.
As I read William James’ “Varieties of Religious Experience”, and texts from Christianity, Buddhism, Zen Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Islam, Hinduism, Plato, and existentialist philosophers, I could recognize my own experience in all the different words. It was as if different people were describing the same beautiful flower garden. Some talked about roses, some spoke of delphiniums, some noticed the color patterns, some focused on the trellises and paths. If I hadn’t seen the flower garden and were just listening to the words, I would have thought the people were talking about different things. Having seen the flower garden, I knew they were all giving verbal structure and form to the same underlying experience, just as our minds give form and meaning to the fixed lines of optical illusions.
I couldn’t stop playing with these ideas. Was my life the same or was it different? Did I know or did I know nothing? I wasn’t sure.
Are the religious words true, or is each set of words simply a finger pointing toward the moon? Is there a sense in which words are false idols? Does the meaning of each set of words depend on the human consciousness that hears them and uses them? Do words have meaning only in the context of particular experiences and mindsets?
“Neither an outside observer nor the Subject who undergoes the process can explain fully how particular experiences are able to change one’s center of energy so decisively, or why they so often have to bide their hour to do so. We have a thought, or we perform an act, repeatedly, but on a certain day the real meaning of the thought peals through us for the first time,…” — William James, “The Varieties of Religious Experience”

There are so many sports that people are involved in these days. No wonder sports gear becomes one of the top search items. The term “sports gear” implies a variety of sport related things - from clothing and footwear to equipment and accessories. From individual to team sports, certain kinds of sports gear are designed specifically for each sport or activity. Actually, you don’t have to be professionally in for sports to use sports gear. Many people find it comfortable and handy for traveling, gym workouts or even some of your ordinary everyday activities. Sports gear is particularly popular with teenagers; and finally, there is hardly anyone who doesn’t possess at least a pair of sneakers and a couple of T-shirts.
Sportswear
When it comes to sports gear, one of the most important items is the right clothing. The pieces of clothing are specifically designed to make every sporting event a little easier to participate in. If you are a soccer player, obviously, you will want to wear clothing that allows enough room to breathe but doesn’t interfere with your movement. Playing football means you need a jersey and some tights designed to hold all of the protective padding. In spite of a few restrictions (sports gear designs have to follow certain rules and traditions according to every particular sport), fashion reigns in this area as well, creating new functional materials and adding more style to comfort.
Footwear
Whether you enjoy your sport activity or hate it depends upon your footwear a lot. This is, probably, the most important piece of sports gear, critical in some cases. If your athletic shoes fail, you will be left barefoot or what’s worse, injured. You will need appropriate type of arch support during your activity, that’s where sneakers are the best. They should be properly fitted and be appropriate for the sport or activity and playing surface. Such factors as torsion, flexion, midsole density and heal counter are decisive while purchasing sports footwear.
Protective gear
For those participating in active sports protective gear is essential as they are most prone to injures. Shin pads, shoulder and body protectors, wrist, elbow and knee guards, helmets, ankle tapping and braces, mouth guards, gloves and so on, all are called to prove the fact that prevention is the key. For every sport there is specific and appropriate protective equipment. It should always fit a person correctly and be used according to manufacturer’s guidelines and the recommendations of the sporting body concerned. Needless to say, protective gear should be maintained properly and checked regularly.
Accessories
Jewelry and stuff like that often viewed as something absolutely out of place in sports. However, the items are in demand and sometimes can really compliment to your look if you know how to match them. Besides, stylish watch with favorite team logo or, say, a nice sporting bag can make a perfect gift for an occasion. And, of course, there are certain accessories you cannot do without if you are in for a particular sport. Imagine snowboarding without a board or playing golf without a club and a ball.
Once you determine what type of equipment, clothing, and footwear you need, you can try to find the best deal on your items. With great selection of brand names and sellers it’s easy to find something suitable, functional and stylish for each individual.
Although a good price is important, your comfort and safety are more important. Look for quality products at fair prices, not cheap prices for bad products.

So, you now own your own business! (Or, are planning to…)
Now, in order to obtain customers and clients, you must
promote it: Spread the word, advertise, hand out cards,
purchase leads, and so on.
How fast do you wish to grow?
How much money do you want to make?
This will be directly related to how much you are willing
to invest in your business, how much time you are able
to consistently devote, and how much you are willing to
learn about your business…
Here’s a *Brick and Mortar* Comparison to consider:
What if you were to open a small store in your home town?
You would have to spend thousands of dollars to stock your
shelves and start up your new business. Of course you would
also need to quit your present job, along with your income,
and probably devote about 50 to 70 hours a week to your new
venture (initially at no pay…).
Finally, your big day comes! You are ready to open for
business! Throw open your doors! Greet the public!
But wait… Where are all the customers? How come they
are not lining up at your doors, waiting to get in?
OOPS… We forgot to advertise!
No matter what type of business you choose, you must
advertise! You are now an entrepreneur; a business owner
— not an ‘employee’! You must change your entire mindset
and attitude if you wish to succeed. Not everyone is
cut out for this. Are you?
One of the first things you will need is a business plan.
Some groundwork, goals and objectives. It’s hard to hit a
target if you have nothing to shoot for…
Let’s take a brief trip back to your original ‘bricks and
mortar’ storefront business. How much overhead do you have
here? How many thousands of dollars in start up costs did
you spend? How many hours are you having to put into it?
Are you making any profit? Getting any traffic? Able to
keep up with all of those monthly expenses? Employees?
Will you even BE in business six months from now?
(Most are not…)
What kind of risk are you taking?
Food for thought: Are you an employee or an entrepreneur?
Think about it. Research the businesses you are considering,
do your due diligence and comparisons.
…Then research ‘yourself…’
The good news is that there’s still a ton of profitable,
legitimate business opportunities online. Most require much
less initial investment and risk, compared to the brick and
mortar models - providing you do your homework. …Er, you
did do your homework, didn’t you?
A great source of information is a good business-building
ezine. Thousands are available online via the search

What gets measured gets done.
How do you keep your business growing? How do you ensure the health of your business and your personal income against threats from competition, market cycles, commission payout changes, regulation of all kinds, and the human threat of complacency?
The answer isn’t to run faster on the same treadmill. The laws of physics say you can maintain a steady speed and still accelerate by changing direction. Since you’re already traveling at top speed in your business and personal life, you can get the acceleration you need by making small changes in the direction you’re taking. It’s hard to foresee what those changes will be, but they will reveal themselves if you regularly devote some time to thinking and working on your business, not just in your business. A professional is constantly learning and improving through reading, professional education (an annual requirement in some professions), research etc. Coaching is a very personal and effective means of keeping a perspective on what’s happening and “noodling” with someone else what your growth options are. Without a second perspective you sometimes “can’t see the forest for the trees.” The top professionals in sports and business have a coach or mentor they trust to help them improve their game.
I use a simple set of questions with my clients. These questions focus attention on the gap between what clients know and what they do. Whether my coaching is only once a month or as often as once a week, these questions apply. Try them yourself — or with a coach — to see their power.
Self-Coaching Questions
Begin by writing the completion of these “Sustainment Statements” every week. I recommend a weekly period to give them urgency and to help maintain your momentum. Feedback on a weekly basis is more effective than it is over a longer period of time.
Sustainment Statements
For the next week I will …… (be very specific)
So that ….. (what is the outcome and benefit?)
The results will look like this ….. (if you can’t describe it, how will you know it happened?)
After the first week you ask, “What have I done to make progress in …”
How well or how much did I do (rate yourself 1-5)
What will I do next? __________ (pick your next step toward a certain goal or direction)
So that …
The results will look like this …
Next, find someone to “check your homework.” Who is going to keep you on track? I began offering a tickler service to clients who want to do self-coaching in addition to using my regular coaching services. Repeating this questioning process weekly will make weekly improvements to your business. If you want to make regular progress, get someone or something you are accountable to weekly.

Have you ever noticed that when someone is interviewed on
radio, television or in the newspapers about a particular
subject, it tends to be the same people? You may even be
saying - “Why don’t they ever ask me?”
Well the reason is - they don’t know about you. If they did
know that you were an expert on a particular subject, then
there’s a good chance you’ll be asked from time to time.
There are various ways to make yourself known to the media.
One way is to write a News Release. Send the media a news
release when you want to announce:
A new product or service -
A new marketing campaign -
A new address -
New staff or someone being promoted -
Any other newsworthy information about you, your business or
your people.
Editors, radio and TV producers receive tons of information
from individuals and companies trying to get publicity for
their business. However, they need information that is
newsworthy, relevant and interesting for their audience.
There are guidelines for writing and laying out a news
release - if you don’t meet these guidelines then your
release will probably get dumped immediately.
A News Release needs
A contact person - In the top left-hand corner of the first
page put the name and telephone number of a person who can
provide further information. If it’s your name then okay,
but an editor would expect to see someone else’s name rather
than the business owner. If you have an assistant, put their
name or your partner’s name - if they work with you.
Date - In the top right-hand corner. You also need to state
when it can be released, if it’s for immediate release then
- put those words. You may want it to be released on a
particular date - if so, give the details.
Headline - You need a headline that summarises the story and
grabs the editor’s attention. Write what you might expect to
see in the particular publication or hear someone say.
The Body - Write your news release on one page if you can;
two pages maximum. Up to 250 words double spaced and a
maximum of four paragraphs. Always write in the “third
person” not the first. Make your information exciting and
human, think about what would grab the attention of the
readers. Include a quotation from a customer if you can;
for example - Fred Smith, Chief Executive of Apex Software
said - “This is the most exciting new product to be
introduced to our industry this year!”
Here are a few other points to consider when writing a news
release:
It’s not a sales document - This is news information, it is
not an advertisement. You don’t want words like - “Wonderful
- Fantastic New Service. If an editor thinks you’re
just trying to get a free advertisement then it’ll be
dumped.
Think of questions - Be prepared for any questions you might
be asked if an editor phones for more information; you don’t
want to blow it if you get to this stage.
Get a name - Find out the name of the person to send it to,
if it’s aimed at the business community send it to - John
Brown, Business Editor, XYZ newspaper. If you can’t get the
name over the phone then, send it to the Business Editor or
the Lifestyle Editor. You can usually find the name of the
person you want from the latest edition of the publication
you’re sending it to. If it’s for radio or TV, phone and ask
- “Who should I send this to?”
Media services - There are media distribution services
that’ll send out your release to all the relevant people -
for a fee
PR Company - You could employ a PR company who’ll do the
whole News Release for you. They know how to write it and
who to send it to. They’ll also have contacts - journalists,
TV editors, producers. They can often get you an interview
with these people.
Here are a couple of books that could be useful:
One Step Ahead: Publicity, Newspapers and Press Releases -
by Alison Baverstock
Press Here! Managing the Media for Free Publicity - by Annie
Gurton

to cold call!

There is lots more to GB music festivals this summer that The Great Escape. From rock by the seaside at Edinburgh to folk and acoustic sounds at Cambridge, the UK’s festivals vibe is in graceful health. Tickets for old favourites like City Showcase and Glastonbury continue to be touted like hot cakes, and with Fergie on T in the Park Justin Timberlake at Download Festival and Jay-Z at Glastonbury the Britain’s festivals are appealing to a bigger demographic range than ever before.
To ask, what do you yourself want from a music festival? Is it terrific dance music so you can boogie all night, ear popping heavy metal music for serious head banging or some terrific soft folk music while one sunbathe in the sunshine? What’s even more prominent really is the sort of ambiance that festival goers are looking for, the line ups & the facilities, all of which at different festivals vary a lot. The key music festivals goes into swing gradually at the end of spring beginning of May the festival happen up & down the UK so there is always going to be a fabulous festival that is near by to festival goers. There are never ever any complaints as you yourself of course are bound to choose a fantastic festival that matches people & what festival goers are seeking for. Buy Music Festivals tickets and see your favourite bands!
The 1st time festival lovers attend a super festival from the second you walk in the grounds to set up your tent accommodation you will probably feel this fabulous buzz. Pop Festivals routinely seem to get greater year after year. The only disadvantage that appears to get mentioned year after year is the price of crisps and cola yet this cannot be helped. You yourself are no allowed to take any of your own chips or beer onto the festival site but people are allowed to carry it into your camping ground so it makes sense to eat & drink all people can before stepping into the festival grounds this way you should be able to stop from spending a fortune What makes an awesome festival great is for obvious reasons the the hot weather, the stylish atmosphere the bands and the tremendous memories that festival goers are bound to make along the way.
