Online Business Owner? Done Your Homework? Here’s a Valuable Lesson

So, you now own your own business! (Or, are planning to…)

Now, in order to obtain customers and clients, you must
promote it: Spread the word, advertise, hand out cards,
purchase leads, and so on.

How fast do you wish to grow?
How much money do you want to make?

This will be directly related to how much you are willing
to invest in your business, how much time you are able
to consistently devote, and how much you are willing to
learn about your business…

Here’s a *Brick and Mortar* Comparison to consider:

What if you were to open a small store in your home town?
You would have to spend thousands of dollars to stock your
shelves and start up your new business. Of course you would
also need to quit your present job, along with your income,
and probably devote about 50 to 70 hours a week to your new
venture (initially at no pay…).

Finally, your big day comes! You are ready to open for
business! Throw open your doors! Greet the public!

But wait… Where are all the customers? How come they
are not lining up at your doors, waiting to get in?

OOPS… We forgot to advertise!

No matter what type of business you choose, you must
advertise! You are now an entrepreneur; a business owner
— not an ‘employee’! You must change your entire mindset
and attitude if you wish to succeed. Not everyone is
cut out for this. Are you?

One of the first things you will need is a business plan.
Some groundwork, goals and objectives. It’s hard to hit a
target if you have nothing to shoot for…

Let’s take a brief trip back to your original ‘bricks and
mortar’ storefront business. How much overhead do you have
here? How many thousands of dollars in start up costs did
you spend? How many hours are you having to put into it?
Are you making any profit? Getting any traffic? Able to
keep up with all of those monthly expenses? Employees?
Will you even BE in business six months from now?
(Most are not…)

What kind of risk are you taking?

Food for thought: Are you an employee or an entrepreneur?
Think about it. Research the businesses you are considering,
do your due diligence and comparisons.
…Then research ‘yourself…’

The good news is that there’s still a ton of profitable,
legitimate business opportunities online. Most require much
less initial investment and risk, compared to the brick and
mortar models - providing you do your homework. …Er, you
did do your homework, didn’t you?
