10 Reasons to Travel to Poland

Poland is an amazing country that is rich in beautiful countryside, warm and welcoming people, and amazing history. Unfortunately, many parts of Poland were destroyed in WWII, however, much of that destruction has been built back up to a level of excellents that far exceeds what once was. There are many reasons to travel to and holiday in Poland, but here are just a few great things to do and see!

*Warsaw
Almost the entire city of Warsaw was destroyed in WWII, but in 1950, the citizens began a major rebuilding project. Now, the city is home to many beautiful skyscrapers, shopping markets, and museums. Also, do not forget to visit the Old Town and the Jewish Ghetto.

*Tatra Mountains
This mountain range, with peaks that are snow-capped year round, is the highest range of mountains between the Alps and the Caucasus. The area is filled with lush greenery, beautiful waterfalls, and small Polish villages which make it a must-see for the true Polish experience.

*Auschwitz
Once a very small and provincial town, Oswiecim is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Poland. In WWII, the Germans renamed the town “Auschwitz” and built the famous Nazi concentration camp within the city. Although it is not a particularly light-hearted visit, the camp is now a museum which offers amazing WWII history.

*Masurian Lakes
Engage in water sports for those of all ages! At an estimated three thousand lakes, the Masurian area is also home to many ancient castles and churches.

*Krakow
Krakow was once the capital city of Poland, but gave up its capital status when Warsaw was rebuilt. Do not let this fool you, however, as it is still one of the top tourism cities in Europe. Home to several types of amazing architecture and churches, there is also a booming nightlife scene!

*Bieszczady Mountains
For nature lovers, this soft green mountainous area is home to hundreds of Polish wooden churches and small villages, perfect for a quiet and calm stay.

*Czestochowa
Home to the Jasna Gora Monastery, which is the biggest Marian sanctuary in the country.

*Wroclaw
For a true mix of culture, Wroclaw is the place to be! With a mixture of German, Austrian, Polish, and Bohemian cultures, Wroclaw is truly never a boring destination!

*Gdansk (Danzig)
This is Poland’s most famous beach city. Always warm and pleasant in the summer months; also a booming maritime city!

*Malbork
Many come to Malbork to see the famous red brick castle that was built in 1274, which is the largest gothic castle in Europe.
